NEW Mini-Golf course BREAKING NEWS - Watkins Glen KOA Camping Resort is named... 2009 KOA Kampground of the Year
November 2008 - The Watkins
Glen KOA Camping Resort has been honored by KOA, Inc., a system of 450 campgrounds
in North America, as the "2009 KOA Kampground of the Year".
Each year for the past 25 years, KOA has honored one of its own for their
contributions, both to the camper and also to the camping industry.
These campgrounds have a legacy of raising the bar of excellence by meeting
and exceeding camper expectations as well as helping to set the standard for
the rest of the camping industry. They join the "best of the best" group of former winners that most recently include:
2008 Shelby-Mansfield, Ohio KOA "Theater in the Woods" in 2009 New in 2009, the "Theater in the Woods" features a family-friendly movie every evening, weather permitting. It is located near the woods tenting area close to the pond. Set up with a giant screen, it will be a great activity to end your day of fun at the campground. NEW "Kamp K9" Pet Playground in 2009 Also added in the spring, 2009, is our special playground set aside for your pets, Kamp K9. It is a fenced-in area featuring obstacles and plenty of room for Fido to run free. This amenity is located behind the pavilion.
Announcing SUNSET ACRES! In 2008 one
of our
BIG NEWS items was the addition of the SUNSET ACRES section to the resort.
SUNSET ACRES is a section of 24 BIG RIG pull-thru sites that HAVE IT ALL!
Twelve of these sites are designated PREMIUM and 12 are designated UPGRADED.
SUNSET ACRES is also our most PRIVATE and quiet RV section as it is located "at
the end of the park". See the next section on more details on our Patio
Sites. Three Kinds of RV Patio Sites! Also in 2008 was the addition of a lot more PATIOS on RV sites. In 2007, we built 12 RV sites with BASIC concrete patios. They were an instant hit! For 2008, we built 3 distinct levels of RV sites with concrete patios. We added not only more basic patios, but also patios with site lighting, lawn swings, premium picnic tables and an upgraded campfire setting. In total, more than 60 of our RV sites have PATIOS. The levels of patio site amenities are as follows:

The Jumping Pillow! The other news in 2008 was the addition of the our GIGANTIC Jumping Pillow. Jumping Pillows, originating in Australia, are bouncy air-filled pillows that are like a huge trampoline. As you can see in the picture, our Jumping Pillow is now open for GREAT summer fun! Our Jumping Pillow is supervised, and it is located by our fishing pond. There is a charge for using it. Our rental fleet of pedal carts has also been moved to the Jumping Pillow center. Pedal cart riders will enjoy riding on the new pedal cart track surrounding the fishing pond. OTHER NEWS Fresh
Pizzas and Hand-Dipped Ice Cream We have expanded our food offerings to include made-to-order pizzas. They are really g-o-o-d! And, of course, we still dip Hershey's ice cream. It's a great way to finish any camping meal. Cable TV is now included with all Full-Hookup RV Sites Our satellite-based cable-TV offerings are now included with ALL of our full-hookup sites at no extra charge. Sorry, but cable TV is not available on Water/Electric or Tent sites. WiFi is still FREE! Our WiFi network is constantly being upgraded. With additional repeaters installed, WiFi should be available at ALL campsites. Just ask for your FREE WiFi access tickets at check-in! The INDOOR Recreation Center Our INDOOR Recreation Center is completely finished now. We have installed premium, non-skid pool decking around our indoor pool and spa, moved the fitness center to the upper level and added 24-hour key-pad entry to the fitness center, and finished the conference room and upstairs bathroom. The Theater in the Woods Our NEW Theater in the Woods in now in operation. Weather permitting, we will be showing a family-fun movie at dusk... weekends before school gets out, but every evening there after. Pirates GOLD is even MORE Plentiful and REWARDING! Digging for GOLD has been a HUGE HIT since it was first discovered in 2005. Today, kids of all ages are coming to the camping resort ready to dig up their share of the loot! Actually, they can exchange their diggings (plastid coins) for real merchandise in our store (25 cents per coin)! More LATE NIGHT SWIMS this Year! The new indoor pool and spa were a smash hit last summer... and it seems that the late night swims are a delight for all! We will have a late night swim on most Saturday nights. At 9:00 pm, the lights will be turned low, the children will be excused, and the adults will have the pool and spa to themselves for a late night swim from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
